Tatreez Bookmark made by Palestinian Refugees - Red
A collaboration of love with a wonderful organisation in Lebanon, Inaash, that works to promote and preserve ancient crafts and especially embroidery of Palestinians. Since its inception in 1969 Inaash has impacted the lives of over 8000 women refugees by providing training, income and even early education for their children. It currently supports over 350 women in five camps.
Red is a very traditional colour used in tatreez embroidery, this colourway was proposed to us by the ladies and we loved it! The patterns just like the blue bookmark are of resistance and hope.
The embroidery on these bookmarks is known as Tatreez. It is not just decoration, but a language of symbols, rich in colour and texture. Tatreez serves as a means of unifying all of Palestinians, woven together in their love for their country, their honour of their heritage & their dedication to preserve their ancient culture.
Bookmark comes with beautiful pouch and card with information about who made the bookmark and how long it took to make. A thoughtful gift.
